Searsport, Maine is located on the Mid-Coast along scenic U.S. Route 1. Many pass through this small coastal town (population 2,641 per 2000 census) while on the way to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Just Northeast of Belfast, this quaint little village is strategically located in Waldo County between the Acadia Region of Maine and the Camden - Rockland areas to the south, providing visitors with Bed and Breakfasts, Hotels, Motels, Inns and other Lodging choices to use as a home base during their visit. Searsport is home to Maine's oldest maritime museum. The Penobscot Marine Museum on 5 Church Street includes several buildings, most of which have been converted to exhibition galleries. Included in the exhibits are maritime art, a small craft boat collection, examples of the industries of the Penobscot Bay, and more.
