Park Headquarters

This is the page with information about the Park Headquarters, not the Visitor Center. You may want to begin your trip through Acadia National Park at the Hulls Cove Visitor Center just off Maine Route 3 in Hulls Cove in Bar Harbor. There, you will find ample publications, activity schedules, and a film for reference and purchase. There are also self-guiding CD tours for rent or purchase if desired. The carriage roads may be accessed there as well. Please Note: The Visitor Center has reopened.

This began on November 1, 2017. In the National Park Service Press release, dated October 31, 2017, it further stated that “…the Acadia National Park Headquarters contact station on Eagle Lake Road (Route 233) closed permanently on May 1, 2017 and has no pass sales, information, services, or restrooms.”

The Chamber's building is located at the corner of Cottage and Main Street. Hours are 8 am to 4 pm weekdays, and 9 am to 5 pm weekends. Early closure at noon is expected the day before New Year’s on December 31. Thank the National Park Service

Greg A. Hartford, photographer, author, publisherThe National Park Service cannot be any better at answering your questions and assisting in the many ways that they do. They are dedicated individuals who are throughout the park doing a variety of work. This land is for all Americans to enjoy and we are entrusted with its upkeep. Please make sure that politics stays out of this and that the National Park Service gets the funding that is needed to maintain, protect and educate. This is a national treasure that cannot be replaced and should be here for all the generations that follow, not just us alone, or for any one individual. Please take the time and let them know that you appreciate the work that they do. (Please note that there are no visitors services offered at Park Headquarters.)
