Slope of Sheep Porcupine Island
The shape of Sheep Porcupine Island off the coast of Bar Harbor, Maine, is a good representation of how continental glaciers can shape the land. As the glacier moved from left to right (north to south), it sheared off large portions of the island's topsoil and granite, depositing it on the forward or right side. This shape is prevalent throughout this part of Maine.
