Use the Maps

Greg A. Hartford, photographer, author, publisherBy far, Bar Harbor has the most vacation rental type properties available. It is also the most sought after market. Bar Harbor is often considered the gateway city and main host to Acadia National Park. The Visitor Center has been here at Hulls Cove for many years. Consequently, there is usually a premium rate, especially for those locations that are shore side. Even so, there are deals to be found so ask for specials, cancellations they need to fill, and remember that the best rates are always during their Off-Season or Non-Peak periods. If you are not real familiar with the layout of the land and where the park highlights are in relation to where you are considering staying, be sure to refer to the Bar Harbor Street map and the map that shows all of Mount Desert Island and where Acadia National Park is located. You will find this invaluable. When you leave your rooms, be sure to take a map with you when exploring the area as it is much larger than you may realize.
