Mount Katahdin, at 5,269 feet, is the highest mountain in the New England State of Maine. It is within Baxter State Park and is the destination of many who take the long hike on the Appalachian Trail from Georgia way to the southern part of the US. This shows the mountain from the Abol Bridge which crosses over the West Branch of the Penobscot River in Penobscot County.
