Sand Beach during the blue hour just before the sunrise in Acadia National Park

Sand Beach Before Sunrise in Acadia

The sun is still below the horizon in this image taken at Sand Beach in Acadia National Park. Otter Cliff is seen in the distance toward the South of Mount Desert Island. It is overcast which makes it shift even more to the blues. The morning glow usually hits Otter Cliff first because it has a clear unobstructed view of the rising sun. It takes a little longer for the light to shine on Sand Beach because of the headland to the left (out of view). Consequently, the light hits the rocks and cliffs on this right side of the beach first and slowly creeps down toward the water. Image specs: Date of July 22 at 5:00 AM using Canon EOS 5D Mark II Full Frame Camera and Canon 24-105mm f/4 "L" Series lens at 55mm, f/22, ISO 50 with a single exposure of 8 seconds.
