Photo Tip
One of the more interesting and challenging photos of this group is the image captured of the Somesville footbridge and selectmen’s building during winter. The reason is because of the special logistics problem that happens with camera meter systems. Light meters are programed to make lighting adjustments in order to make the average light reading end up at an 18% gray. This was determined many years ago to be the sweet spot to better match most skin tones. The problem happens whenever the surfaces that light is reflecting off of is either very dark, or very white, as in the instance of snow. Consequently, we must fool the meter so that it allows the image to have more light.
