Acadia National Park Sunrise
This panoramic photo of an Acadia sunrise was taken from Thompson Island Picnic Area just as the sun was about to break over the horizon. Thompson Island, located in Trenton, Maine, is the small island between the mainland and Mount Desert Island and is where most people first enter Acadia National Park. This is a popular location to eat Maine Lobster and steamed clams purchased in Trenton before continuuing onto the much larger Mount Desert Island. Generations of people visiting the area have started their days here.
Mount Desert Island has over 20 mountains, all of which were sheared off by glaciers thousands of years ago. Cadillac Mountain, at 1,530 feet, is the highest and best known mountain on the island. This region is known for its rugged rocky coastline. Image #1203 Specs: June 29 at about 4:52 AM, Canon 5D, 24-105mm f/4 L at 45mm, 1/20 second, f/14, ISO 100, 6 images

The Stillness Before The Dawn
In those special moments when we wait in calm yet attentive awareness for the morning sun to peek above the distant horizon, we surrender to the stillness of nature and the realization that we also are part of all of this. It is in that vision that we become the best of who we are, and who we were meant to be. It draws us closer together, and enters us through our first breath of communion and shared experience. The cycle of daylight has begun. The prayer of dawn is not wishful for the future. It is the embracing of the revelation of all of life to our senses in each exact instant of timeless wonder.
